Announcing The “Not Alone” Project

The “Atheist Community” has given so much to me over the years. I now have a voice both inside and outside the community, I have made great friends, and have contacts all over the world with similar human and social rights interests to mine. So in an effort to instil a bit of the “community” back into the community, here is my latest project “Not Alone”.

Introducing the “Not Alone” logo.

The “Not Alone” logo represents the thoughts of those who are secretly irreligious, and the feeling of isolation and loneliness associated with this. But know this: You are NOT alone.

Many people in the world live in situations where even the idea of “atheism” is fraught with hatred and even danger for the non-believer, and it is important for those people to realise that they are not alone in the world.

The Not Alone Project

My hope is to create a place where the non-believers stories can be published, in a completely safe environment, which doesn’t judge its participants in any way. This is an internet “safehouse” for those who fear coming out, an a place to share stories, freedoms and inspirations that atheism allows you. Those who publish their work here have the choice of remaining anonymous, or publishing their names in their articles.

In short, this place is for you.

In time, I hope to expand this project to include partnerships and affiliations with other organisations around the world, and help to work toward a world where projects like this one are no longer needed.

Please go check out the Not Alone project, and if you feel the need, contribute to it via this form.

  1. Hello,
I told people I was an atheist a couple of years ago and it didn’t go well. I’ve noticed others (even family members) treating me differently. I’m the only atheist I know of in my area. I’m married to a christian (makes for interesting dinner conversations), have a 8 yr daughter that isn’t old enough to decide yet and a son on the way (he’s already an atheist). I have that “atheist rage” that people talk about, but I don’t like it. It’s fustrating and annoying when the only people you can talk to about how you feel, think that your possessed or demented.

  2. Suggestion: consider making various versions of the logo.  One without a sniper’s red Laser dot it it would be nice!  :-)
I’ll be curious if religious folks grab this logo and say, “You are right, we have God”
I think there are several sites inviting testimonies of deconversion.  All of you serve a good purpose.  Good luck with this.

  3. BTW, due to livefyre, submitting a comment on this site took me about 5 minutes — pain in the butt

  4. ds80You’re not the only one.  Next time you’re in a group that’s praying – a big meal, memorial, whatever – be bold, open your eyes, and look around.  You will see others with their eyes open and looking around, too.  They’re your brothers and sisters in faith.
